Generalized Greatest Common Divisors, Divisibility Sequences, and Vojta’s Conjecture for Blowups

چکیده
We apply Vojta’s conjecture to blowups and deduce a number of deep statements regarding (generalized) greatest common divisors on varieties, in particular on projective space and on abelian varieties. Special cases of these statements generalize earlier results and conjectures. We also discuss the relationship between generalized greatest common divisors and the divisibility sequences attached to algebraic groups, and we apply Vojta’s conjecture to obtain a strong bound on the divisibility sequences attached to abelian varieties of dimension at least two.

Vojta’s Main Conjecture for blowup surfaces
In this paper, we prove Vojta’s Main Conjecture for split blowups of products of certain elliptic curves with themselves. We then deduce from the conjecture bounds on the average number of rational points lying on curves on these surfaces, and expound upon this connection for abelian surfaces and rational surfaces. متن کاملOn the Greatest Prime Factor of Some Divisibility Sequences
Let P (m) denote the greatest prime factor of m. For integer a > 1, M. Ram Murty and S. Wong proved that, under the assumption of the ABC conjecture, P (a − 1) ,a n2− for any > 0. We study analogues results for the corresponding divisibility sequence over the function field Fq(t) and for some divisibility sequences associated to elliptic curves over the rational field Q. In honor of M. Ram Murt...
متن کاملElliptic Divisibility Sequences and Undecidable Problems about Rational Points
Julia Robinson has given a first-order definition of the rational integers Z in the rational numbers Q by a formula (∀∃∀∃)(F = 0) where the ∀-quantifiers run over a total of 8 variables, and where F is a polynomial. This implies that the Σ5-theory of Q is undecidable. We prove that a conjecture about elliptic curves provides an interpretation of Z in Q with quantifier complexity ∀∃, involving o...
متن کاملVojta’s Conjecture Implies the Batyrev-manin Conjecture for K3 Surfaces
Vojta’s Conjectures are well known to imply a wide range of results, known and unknown, in arithmetic geometry. In this paper, we add to the list by proving that they imply that rational points tend to repel each other on algebraic varieties with nonnegative Kodaira dimension. We use this to deduce, from Vojta’s Conjectures, conjectures of Batyrev-Manin and Manin on the distribution of rational...
